Virgile Barthé
Virgile Barthé is a rising star of classical guitar in France and internationally, having won the prestigious Rose Augustine Grand Prize at the 2025 Guitar Foundation of America. Following this historic victory, he launched his highly anticipated 2026 Winner Tour across the United States and around the world, including a stop at The Athenaeum in Philadelphia.
Born in Toulouse, Barthe began his training at the Regional Conservatory of Toulouse before entering the National Superior Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP). His repertoire spans a wide range of classical works, from the Baroque period to Romantic and contemporary compositions, including Bach, Francisco Tárrega, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and many modern composers. His performances are characterized by technical precision, clarity of sound, and deep emotional expression.
One of the most exceptional musical talents of his generation, you will not want to miss this Soiree presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society at the acoustically perfect and intimate Busch Room at The Athenaeum of Philadelphia. 219 S 6th Street, Philadelphia. Stay for a meet-and-greet with Virgile over light refreshments after the performance.
